Harris County Schools Job Openings
I want to commend the members of the 6-12 Advisory Task Force for their hard work. Each member dedicated 16+ hours of their personal time over four days to meet and work together to identify solutions and find consensus. Thanks to the diversity of the group, they brought forward all the concerns of our community and each was discussed. Three task force members -- Kristi Hardy, parent; Jessica Anno, teacher; and Hunter Warnick, student -- presented the group's recommendations tonight which include three options for the Board to consider. The Board chose Option D. In this option, families will have two choices for their secondary student(s): Attend in person learning five days a week with Friday as an early release day OR Continue in Blue/Gold hybrid model What's next? Parents will get an email with instructions on how to make a choice for their child(ren) tomorrow. Please talk with your child(ren) about the choices. You may make different choices for each child. Choices must be made by March 15 to allow schools time to prepare schedules.

Will Dee or Myles end up as a reliable double-digit scorer? Will the talented freshmen, as a whole, make enough of an immediate impact to offset the loss of production Xavier has suffered? If the youngsters don't gel quickly or Stainbrook gets into familiar trouble, Xavier could stumble towards another bubble situation. After reaching the Sweet 16 in two of Mack's first three seasons on the job, Xavier has failed to get an NCAA win the past two seasons. Muskies fans have come to expect wins in March, and a third season with no postseason success will be viewed as a big disappointment. The pressure is on, despite the loss of so much talent, for Mack's team to make a statement both in its league and once the selection committee picks its field. Villanova looks like the only team that is surely better than Xavier in the Big East this season; there is room for the Musketeers to break through. Will they seize the opportunity? Admittedly, this ranking is higher than I envisioned Xavier ending up when I began these previews.
