I had all of my science classes "equated" to their US prerequisite counterparts before leaving, so I thought I was all squared away. After one year in the UK, I was enjoying the education system, I had a job I loved in a hospital, and had just gotten involved with some research so I reached out to my home university and asked if it was possible to stay a second academic year. Thanks to my 5 year scholarship, I figured I would stay the extra year as an undergrad and apply to med school as a senior entering my 5th year. Again, my advisors gave no pushback on this and I spent another year in the UK. I came back to the US for my 4th and 5th years of the degree only to find that my "equated" courses were processed for credit only as pass/fail, which is apparently the policy my school has about all exchange classes and which I was never warned about. I had no GPA from 2 years of my undergrad degree, so my application to medical school reflected a limited GPA and looked like I had taken the vast majority of my science prerecs as P/F.
